MU.SK asked: Hello,
I am no expert on the commodity market, or on the field of economics, I’m just hoping to create a debate on this issue I hope to raise.
As the high oil is perhaps a primary factor into the recent high food costs and increased prices we all have to pay on service stages (petrol pumps), not to mention the suffering this is causing to so many poor people across the world, where starvation is a real possibility. Do you think that it is time the world changes the structure of the oil market to meet the critical challenges humanity is facing?
This is what I propose, feel free to criticise (please keep comments to an educated level )
Ban speculation, Ban hedging money against oil, create a panel/committee/organisation of independent experts who will examine the real demand of oil and set prices. This way people all over the world will get a deal that is fair and reflective of themselves and not of those that wish to make oil an investment opportunity over the suffering of others.
